No, I would not recommend this to a friend
It is a great idea. I was mistaken thinking that it would be better than a percolater. After brewing you are supposed to turn off the stove burner, which I did. In the cool morning air the coffee cools quickly. I had to pour the coffee into a pan and place it on the fire grate to get it hotter and to keep it that way. Needs work. I am going to return it and buy a percolater.
